So many restaurants closing recently in Tucson. Glad to see Horseshoe Grill still is the go-to reference for a local steakhouse. It had been a while since we were last at HSG and decided to head in on a Friday night. It was still the great steaks and friendly service we remembered. It's obvious they are trying to keep their prices affordable and the cost of meat has skyrocketed everywhere, but HSG's steak prices are more reasonable than other restaurants in Tucson and the quality is excellent, so for that alone they earn my repeat business. Same goes for cocktails as well. One thing that has always struck me about dining at HSG is the incredible service and super friendly staff. Oh, and they brought back their killer salad bar, too! That mainstay became a Covid casualty. I'm so glad it finally has been restored. Great unassuming venue for a date-night.

A year ago when we were vacationing in Phoenix we made a trip to the Pima Air Museum in Tucson (would highly recommend a visit). Afterwards we decided to find a bbq restaurant and the Horseshoe Grill was a great find. This year we stayed in Tucson and had to come back to the Horseshoe. It did not disappoint us. Our waiter, Brenden, was on top of it for service and went out of his way to take care of us. We had the sampler for 2. The flavor of all the meat was fantastic with the smoke flavor and the brisket was the best (as far as flavor and tenderness) I've ever had. We would probably visit this place weekly but it's a long way from Iowa.

I've got nothing but praise for The Horseshoe Grill. The exterior isn't going to reach out and grab you, but once you get inside, your faith will be rewarded. I had the grilled shrimp, and they were perfectly done and flavorful. I chose the steak fries, made in-house, and they were so good that I ate every single one of them. They also make their own pickled onions, and I only wish that I could make them that good. One successful meal can be a fluke, so we returned later in the week and had the same experience. Jade V. took great care of us. She is polite, personable, and professional. My wife had the bacon blue burger, and we finished off with the peach cobbler and ice cream. I consider myself a cobble and dessert expert, and I can't think of a better cobbler anywhere. The atmosphere is a southwestern cowboy.

The appetizers were too good so beware. We didn't get to enjoy the main courses cuz we were so full.

Service is amazing. I came across town to try this place. Great buzz about it. I had the steak and scallops special. Steak was an aged New York. Cooked correctly and great taste and texture. Velvet had the petite sirloin, their smallest steak. It was more like a filet than a sirloin. Tender and almost melt in your mouth. Service was amazing, did I say that?

I've raved-reviewed Horseshoe Grill multiple times, but I need to do it once more, since I ordered something newish on the menu and definitely new to me at Horseshoe. Every weekend offers a rotating choice of surf-and-turf specials, like steak and lobster, steak and scallops, steak and shrimp. The diner can choose from two sizes of top sirloin, ribeye, porterhouse, t-bone, and New York. I've even gone off label and had their succulent mesquite-smoked ribs with lobster. We most often show up for steak and lobster. In the mood for a Horseshoe steak, the hub and I went Saturday night even though lobster was not on the menu. Hub had the top sirloin and a loaded baked potato (not sure what they do with their bakers, but the texture and flavor are the best!). I was thrilled that the salad bar had been reinstated and it was full of freshness: a bin of Romaine and one of mixed greens, grape tomatoes, black olives, two kinds of shredded cheese, cauliflower, broccoli, red onion, a corn mixture, cucumbers, beets, carrots and a few more I can't remember; plus at least nine pitchers of different house-made dressings. (Should have taken a pic of the salad bar.) The special was steak Oscar, and it was incredible. My top sirloin was perfectly medium rare as ordered, and was topped with crab, Bearnaise, and asparagus. The crab in Bearnaise was so delicious, so luscious, so decadent, that I did not leave a drop on my plate. SO GOOD! Reservations are a good idea, especially on weekends. Service was friendly and efficient, as always. But that Oscar! OMG.

I have to begin this review by beseeching management to place YES! We're open! Signs all over the frontage. We nearly missed out on THE best wings in Tucson because the suites on either side of this little gem are being renovated. If some guy hadn't been standing outside we'd have driven on. We would've missed out. The restaurant is comfy rustic inside and smells delicious, exactly what I want in my steakhouse. I am back again, twice in one week. I'm going to be a regular for sure.

Had a wonderful time at THG yesterday, with great service from Vinnie (sorry if it's spelled Vinny!) and EXCELLENT food! First of all, Vinnie was awesome as a server, he checked on us frequently, refilled drinks quickly, was very helpful in navigating the menu, had a really fun personality, and he made an awesome smoked Manhattan (at his good suggestion, I might add). The food was just terrific, too! I was a little concerned that the pork belly burnt ends would be fatty but that was NOT the case at all, nor were they too sweet either, they were delicious, just right! I liked the little cubes, nice size. Very tasty. The chicken wings were also fantastic! Crispy, tender, and delicious. Still thinking about them. And they accommodated sauce on the side (they offer a lot of sauces for the wings, too). I had the T-Bone steak, and it was also delicious. I hemmed and hawed, should I get barbecue or steak, and I guess I'll just have to return to try brisket or the other meats, but I had NO issue with the T-Bone. Yes, when it first came out, it was underdone (we ordered medium well and it was more like medium rare), but Vinnie made it right very quickly. In fact, he handled it better than I've seen a lot of other people handle it. And the steak was tender and delicious! I really liked this experience and we definitely plan to return!
